What is the difference between the 1st and 2nd Continental Congress? Firstly, the 1st Continental congress only met for 6 weeks. While the 2nd Continental Congress met for 6 years! The 1st also sent the Olive Branch Petition to King George lll which was trying to make peace over conflicts between the colonies and the crown. The 2nd Continental Congress sent him the Declaration of Independence.
1st Continental Congress
The first Continental Congress met at Carpenter's Hall from September 5, to October 26, 1774. The Pennsylvania Congress seat was Carpenter's Hall. Georgia was the only colony that didn't send delegates. These were elected by the people, by the colonial legislatures, or by the committees of correspondence of the respective colonies. The colonies presented there were united in a determination to show a combined authority to Great Britain, but their aims were not uniform at all.
The intolerable acts was not received at all well in the colonies. The first Continental congress were called to order. 55 colony representatives showed up!!!! Every colony representative went to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The only colony that didn't send a representative was Georgia.
2nd Continental Congress
"Times had taken a turn for the worse." says http://www.ushistory.org/us/10e.asp. Everything has changed in Lexington and Concord. They gave them the benefit of the doubt when the Redcoats shot into the Boston Crowd.
When the battles of Lexington and Concord were over, a Second Continental congress met. They met on May 10, 1776 in Philadelphia. Where they met is now called Independence Hall.
The Second Continental Some of the returning delegates included Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. There were 65 delegates!

What I think about the Continental Congress
Why do you think that I like the Continental Congress? I like like it because I think it is a good way to make decisions. The only reason I don't like it is because it would get very chaotic. I also liked it because many people would make many good points. Why do you like it?
