Family
His parents were Prince Fredrick, Princess Agusta of Saxe-Gotha. He was married to Princess Sophia Charolette. He had four sons and three daughters. His sons were King George IV, Prince Fredrick, Prince Edward Agustus, and Ernest Agustus I. His daughters were Princess Charlotte, Princess Agusta Sophia, and Princess Elizabeth.
Early Rule
King George came to power in 1760, and when he came up he was the ruler of Great Britain and Ireland. When he came to the throne he played his Hanoverian connections. Early in his reign he pushed for an end to the seven years war. In 1762 King George appointed Lord Bute as Prime Minister.
Crazy???
In 1765 King George suffered several short mental breakdowns. In the winter of 1788-89 he suffered from a prolonged mental illness called Porphyria. In 1810 he became permanently insane. His wife then took care of him for the rest of his life. Porphyria is a defect of your blood that can cause insanity if not treated properly.
Some of his achievements
He was one of the longest ruling british kings. King George funded a 40 foot long telescope that found Uranus. King George oversaw the conquering of an empire. He was the first king of the United Kingdom. He was the Prince of Wales
What I think
I think that King George was a decent ruler. He made multiple mistakes though. King George III thought he made the best choices for his kingdom. King George should've given the colonies choices. King George would've been a good ruler if he had given the colonies choices.
