John Jay was born in 1745 in NYC to a family consisting of New York’s Government officials and wealthy merchants. With this line of money John (as a young man) went to a prestigious collage (Columbia University) to study to become a lawyer. After becoming a lawyer, Jay joined the Committee of Correspondence.
